Jukka Markkanen

I work as Fleet Manager at Nobina, where I am responsible for the strategic planning, development, and lifecycle management of the company’s bus fleet in Finland. My role covers fleet investment planning, vehicle-related work for public transport tenders, the development of electric mobility solutions, and the procurement and deployment of new vehicles. I also oversee long-term fleet optimization and lifecycle management, while working closely with operations, maintenance teams, vehicle manufacturers, and transport authorities to develop technical solutions that support efficient and reliable public transport.

What I enjoy most about my work is the opportunity to help shape the future of public transport. The industry is evolving rapidly through electrification, new technologies, and ambitious sustainability goals, making every day both challenging and rewarding. It is especially satisfying to see planning and development work materialize into new vehicles, improved passenger experiences, and more efficient operations.
